H22 backfire, cam timing correct
Have a 1994 prelude that came with the f22 and external coil. Installed obd1 h22 and p13. Ordered distributor for h22 since motor didn't come with one; got one with the internal coil. I swapped all the guts from my f22 distributor into the h22 distributor housing while deleting the internal coil; this way its plug and play. Using cap from f22 as well of course for the external coil.
Car just cranks over and backfires, has strong spark, and plugs are getting wet with fuel.
Is there some incompatibility in the distributor guts? everything looks the same, even the same as my b-series civic.
I thought maybe I flipped that key on the end of the dizzy 180 when i swapped guts so I switched that and got basically the same thing.

Yeah u can't put the dizzy in 180 degrees wrong. Sounds like ur definately getting fuel. U sure each plug is sparking? did u bump any grounds while workin on the distributor, perhaps the thermostat ground? Was it workin b4 u did all this or is this the first time u've tried to start ur swap?

You can if you disassemble the tip that goes in the cam; which I did. I took ALL guts from the f22 dizzy (ALL wiring, sensors, shaft.) and swapped it into the h22 dizzy housing so it would bolt up.
Anyways I got ahold of a factory h22 distributor and it does the same thing. Check this, the plugs are wet and smell of fuel, but when i put the noid tester on the injector plug, it appears the injectors aren't firing. Checked on my other car, noid tester is working.
Fuel pump primes, fuel pressure at 35psi.
Really need this car out of my garage. grr help.
