Which engine should i swap to?
I just found out that i will be getting a 1993 civic cx... i currently have a prelude but i want the civic to be used solely for road racing /track events. It will be towed to the course so being street legal is not an issue.
Which engine is recommend for a swap in terms of best bang for the buck?
thanks for any input?

LS swap w/GSR or B16 tranny

If your going to be road racing and it doesn't need to be street legal just put an H22 in there and slp a turbo on it, take the cat off and run like the wind!

what road race series are you competeing in or by road racing do you mean HPDES? If its for W2W racing then i would get Sohc Vtec so you can run HC H4 or if its for HPDE i would get any B.

I totaly agree. the h22 weighs a lot more that a b series. good luck making a h22eg handle well enough to road race. drag is a different story. that's just my 2 cents, not baggin on the h22.

its nice to see h22's in hatches but ived heard that h22 arent good for high reving. but it would be nice to see how it turns out. when you get some pics post em'
what i mean by road racing I mean like I pay an organization 130 bucks for 25 mintues track sessions with other cars and go around various tracks./courses.. im not talking about autocrossing.. This is just purely for driving for fun not to compete.. so I guess the H22 is out of the question ... sounds like more than i want to deal with..
Im just looking for a simple swap least amount of headaches etc...

Been there, done that. The H22 is fun to drive on a road course, and we're making our new "NASA-spec" car into a fun road race car with a H22 going into that. I guess you can say I was one of the first to have taken a H22 onto a road course
When I said above LS swap w/GSR or B16 tranny, I was answering your question as to best bang for the buck and easiest to install, but for the throttle response, torque, and power that the H22 has to offer, if/when you drive a H22 Civic, you'll see what all the rave is about

i put a h22a in my 94 teg, and it is more complicated than most other swaps, but the potential is so much greater.....
if you want best bang for the $, easy enought to do in your backyard in 1 night, and something that good potential for anything (turbo, NA, nitrous, stock) get a ITR motor, no contest...
