EK engine in an EG shell - does it work?
My daily driver is a 92CX. The engine is beginning to get a little tired @ 140k. It's hard to find a low-mileage engine from that era so I was wondering how involved it would be to put a CX or DX engine from a 96+ into the car.
It will work. You can swap the intake manifold from your dx motor onto the newer motor and use all of your obd1 accesseries like the injectors, distributor, alternator and the plug it all in. I have never done this before but I know of someone who put a 97 dx motor into a crx and it went right in with the use of some crx components. I hope this helps, somewhat.
Yes it will fit just like stock. You'll need to change the driver's side mount bracket and mount with the one from your original motor. Use all your OBDI components and it's a plug and play bolt in. I have a 00 D16Y7 in my 89 DX and it fit with the same modifications I listed above.
