EG with b18c; O2 sensor installation problems???
hello
I have a 93 civic hatchback and I'm installing my obd1 gs-r swap in about 2 weeks. A concern of my is with the O2 sensor. I believe my stock one is a 1 wire and the gs-r is a 4 wire. I know that the O2 will have to be relocated down in the exhaust manifold bong (next to the collector). How will I go about extending the o2 wires and hooking up the o2 sensor to make it work properly? Do I need to purchase one from a gs-r to complete my install?
please help me out and let me know if I'm short of questions.
thanks guys

You MUST use a 4 wire O2 sensor, it can be any 4 wire Honda/Acura or even a universal one. You will not only have to extend the one wire but you will also have to wire up the other 3 wires for CEL free operation.

yeah I have to do the samething with my GSR, Im just going to use the stock O2 off of my GSR header( I swapped it for an RSR header). I think I will just bung it on the 3 inch added peice to the exhaust, so that I dont have to tap the header. Remember you will have to add that extra 3 inches also or your exhaust will run short of rear exit, it will be tucked under your bumper.

just use the GSR wire harness, so you don't have to worry about extending the wires. Just make sure you repin it correctly.

Re: EG with b18c; O2 sensor installation problems??? (oldbeefcake)
I purchased the hasport GS-R subharness for the swap. It doesn't come with wires to run to the ECU to hook up the o2 sensor. Besides what special wires should I use? Where should I route the o2 sensor wires in my engine bay?
please help?
please help?

Re: EG with b18c; O2 sensor installation problems??? (93Civic_hb)
Can someone valch for this information that I found online and let me know if it is the best way to do a 1 to 4 wire o2 sensor hook-up?
I have a EG CX so I have to also extend the o2 wires. The o2 will now be located at the bottom of the header(next to the collector); no longer will be located in the front top half of the exhaust manifold...
If you bought a CX or DX civic with a 1-wire o2 sensor, you're going to have to convert to a 4-wire to run a b-seires ecu, and most of the "top of the line" d-series ecu's like the p28.
First things first, you need to physically buy a 4-wire o2 sensor. you can't send a heater signal to a device which has no heater circuitry and expect it to work
Wires on 4 wire O2:
WHITE: Signal Wire
GREEN: Signal Ground
2 BLACK: Both black wires are the heater circuit wires.
Using a P28 ECU (and should work for most obd1 ecu's with 4-wire controls)
Run O2 Sensor signal (white) To D14
Run O2 Sensor signal Ground (green) to D22 (or any good Ground)
Run O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Control (black) to A6
Run the other black heater circuit power wire to (A25) or any good switched +12VDC source.
(you may mix up the black wires... if car dies after it is warm/10-30 seconds, that's the first thing to swap over and troubleshoot.. theres no way to tell one from the other by looking at them)
