Most people will tell you that to sell you on something. The P28 is the stock ECU for the 92-95 Civic Si and EX. Most people reprogam them to custom specs for DOHC VTEC applications, probably your case due to the lack of a rev limiter and higher VTEC engagement. If the motor is stock as in cams and intake manifold you would be much better off with a stock 94-95 GSR P72 ECU.

Yeah either that or have someone program you a new chip for the P28 that will run your motor. However you may want to look into a few different options for activating the butterflies in the intake manifold ( RPM switch, etc...) I guess it depends on how much money you have to spend cause OBD1 GSR P72 ECUs are pretty expensive in comparison to chipped P28's. I can burn you a stock program for cheap if that's the route you want to take....

You can add IAB control to a P28. Search on http://www.pgmfi.org (Library) to found out have to do it. It will cost you like $2 in parts. My tuning P28 has IAB control.

Yes I know you can add IAB to a P28 I've been a member at PGMFI for about 3 years... Adding IAB to a P28 also requires more than just $2 in parts you need a considerable amount of experience working with electronics and a good quality set of tools (temp controlled soldering iron, etc.).. You also need a new chip burned that contains the code to activate the IABs........

Since not everyone has these sorts of things I was offering a more common alternative...

anyways.. that's all...

No need for setting up the iabs since he's running the skunk2 IM. Basically, in your case, keep your p28 but run a different program...something thats more appropriate for the mods you have done, whatever that may be.

I understand, there is always more options. The more people know about them, the better decision they can make.

depends what year p72 you have. Since your currently running th ep28 (i'm assuming), that means your car is a 92-95 civic/integra right? If thats the case, you'll need a obd 1 p72 or a p61 GSR ecu (i have one for sale right now ). Basically any obd 1 ecu will plug directly into any 92-95 civic/integra. obd2 (either version) will not plug into an obd 1 stock harness. There are conversion harnesses where you can run obd2A-1/obd2B-1, obd0-1, obd 1-2. You'll want to stay obd 1 either way in the end because of tuning purposes. with all this said, stick with the chipped p28 becuase your running a skunk2 intake manifold, meaning no iabs on the gsr motor anymore...that means you probably wouldnt want to run a p72
