Default do i need to convert from obd2a to obd1?

i have a 98 civic and am going to be swapping in a b18b. im having the block machined and rebuilt and all for ls/vtec, but for right now, im going to have a complete b18b with a built high compression block. do i need to convert down to obd 1 since a few of the things im going to be using are obd 1? or can i keep it obd2? what kind of wiring will i need to change if i do convert to obd1? i know im going to have to go obd1 for the ls/vtec anyway. but a head will a built valvetrain is gonna cost a pretty penny, and probably wont get done for a while.
