disconnected VTEC?

If the vtec on the motor is disconnected, does it mess up the engine if u drive like that? Or if u punch it? Some guy told me there some kind of $60 vtec switch to turn it on, is this true?

Disconnecting VTEC will in no way hurt the engine. It will, however, set a DTC in a VTEC ECM.

That vtec switch is prob the vtec solenoid.
