Default Difference Between OBD 0 and OBD 1 Distributor

Just wondering I heard back in the day that If you did a engine swap you needed to match the computer with the distributor.
OBD 0 computer and an OBD 0 distributor
OBD 1 computer and an OBD 1 distributor
OBD 2 computer and an OBD 2 distributor

So If you were doing and OBD 1 GSR engine, distributor into an OBD 0 Civic/CRX/90-91 Integra you could NOT use and OBD 0 ecu you would need
an OBD 0 to OBD 1 ecu converter with OBD 1 ecu to match the engine and distributor. Or you could swap in OBD 1 GSR engine into and OBD 0
Civic/CRX/90-91 Integra with the OBD 0 Distributor with the OBD 0 ECU so
they match and would not need to buy an converter.

If you run a OBD1/2 motor on OBD0 ECU and dizzy, it will work. You will have to switch/reuse the ECT sensor cause OBD0 one is on the block and OBD1/2 is on the thermostat housing. If you are swapping in a Vtec DOHC motor in the car and using LS OBD0 dizzy, you will have to trim/cut the legs to make it fit.

I know how to do the conversion from obd 0 to obd 1 but im asking if you need to match the ecu with the distributor. I heard you did need to match them?

For OBD0, yes, you have to match the dizzy with the ECU. But for OBD1/2, You can run a OBD2 dizzy with a OBD1 ECU, BUT not the other way around.

I hope I answered your questions.

Is this true, This mean <U>I CAN</U> use an obd 2 dist with an obd 1 ecu.
But <U>CANNOT</U> use an obd 1 dist with an obd 2 ecu.
Whats the difference why is this, is the connector different because i can use a different connector.

**I think the obd 2 dist has a crankshaft fluctuation sensor, so if using a obd2 ecu and obd 1 dist the ecu looks for the sensor but doesnt have a crankshaft fluation sensor in the obd 1 ecu so throws a code. But if using an obd 2 dist and obd 1 ecu its just an extra sensor that the obd 1 ecu doesnt even look for

This is not true. I ran a OBD1 motor (complete with all OBD1 electronics) in a OBD2b car with the stock OBD2b ECU (the harness was a OBD2a (EX) converted to OBD1). It drove for 30 miles. It throw 2 codes were:
54 CKF - crank fluctuation sensor
63 Secondary oxygen sensor

It ran smooth and drove perfect.

Edit: my spelling really sucks

Yes and it throws codes,

I want to run this setup with No Codes, Can i run the obd 1 ecu with obd 2 dist. and repin the obd2 distributor connector to fit the obd 1 wiring harness dist connector.

You can use an OBD1 distributor with an OBD2 ecu, no problem.

Are you sure i thought the obd 2 has the crank fluctuation sensor. WHere is that located, Is it in the distributor? Well if it is and you use an obd 1 distributor and obd 2 ecu that looks for a sensor the obd 1 distributor doesnt even have and sets the crank fluctuation code.

What ever sensors that OBD1 does not see, will not make a diffferent.
