Default d16y8 into an EK

i assume you can use the stock d series mounts from a d16y7 to bolt in a d16y8 in an EK civic, correct? what wiring harness should be used? axles can also be reused too, right?

does anyone know where to buy a complete d16y8 engine swap? hmotorsonline doesnt have any on their site. also, around how much do they go for?

Yes, you can reuse your stock mounts and stock harness and axles. You will have to add a couple of wires.

From people on this board. You will find that they will sell it for very cheap too. But with everything, you get what you pay for.

Not very many engine importers sell SOHC swaps unless it's the JDM D15B VTEC. Most people sell them fairly cheap after a swap so you shouldn't have trouble finding a Y8 swap through the classifieds here, Ebay or other message boards. Also check with salvage yards as well.

The engine+trans assembly will drop in using the stock mounts, shift linkage, axels. The engine harness can be used with very little modification. Sometimes it is easier to use the stock exhaust manifold depending on if the engine you get has the cat in-front of the engine on the Header right at the head. If you use the vtec header or an aftermarket for the sohc vtec the cat+converter will be eliminated and your exhaust pipe will be about 15 inches too short. And you will have to lengthen both O2 sensor harnesses. if you get the header worked out the it is you need to add a knoch sensor and ECU just like a B-series swap into a SOHC. The big difference is the idle air control motor. On the Y7 it uses a downdraft stlye, the throttle body sits on top of the manifold, that model uses a 3 wire IAC motor, On the soch vtec they use the side-draft stlye like the b-series manifold where the Throttle body is on the left side of the manifold (if you are facing the engine compartment from in front of the car) uses a 2 wire IAC motor. You need to look at the factory manual and figure out which wire to cut of the three on the factory harness, I am pretty sure it is the orange wire but always double check. That is normally the toughest part, the engine transplant it self is cake.

ya thats what i was figuring...according the the girl who has the car...she had an ex...the y6...blew the motor...dropped in a dx motor...y7? for the time being...and is now going back to the y6...she said when they swapped it back they just hooked everything up...so im assuming all ill have to do is drop it in...plug all the harnesses together and hopefully it will run...spring break project 2004~ thanks for the help 4cfed!
