D16y8 into EG help
Hello! I have a 93 Civic Si that was H22a4 swapped, started having clutch issues and was smoking like crazy. Bought the car already swapped, my wallet can not afford maintaining a H22a4 so here’s the thing… Bought a 97 EK with a D16y8 and manual tranny for $300. Obviously I have practically all parts I need or have atleast figured it out besides wiring… I have a P28 with an Ostrich emulator. From what I can tell the wires come from the ECU to the shock tower plugs still, that’s where I had to disconnect the H22 harness wires from (Whatever harness they used). What can I do to plug this D16y8 into my shock tower harness or is there a way to bypass them or…? I see all these “Budget D series tuck harnesses” online. Can anyone link specific harnesses they’ve used in their EG or tell me how to get a cheap harness and make it work with mine? I’ll have the D16y8 harness so I’d assume I can solder certain harnesses over but if there’s a cheap option for a tuck harness that’s Obd1 to OBD2A I’d assume that’d be better. Guess I’m just sorta lost on where to start. Information on these subjects are certainly all over the place from my forums searching and don’t really give any great obvious answer on how to do it. Plus maybe there’s better options than what there was 15 years ago. I see maxpeedingrods and a few other cheap brands offer harnesses but again… Asking before just wasting money even though I’m trying to save money. Thanks very much!
Just get a stock 92-95 engine harness, not some aftermarket tuck harness, use the h22 injectors if they're obd1 and you'll need a distributor conversion harness from obd2 to obd1. You'll need to get creative with the wiring for the IAT sensor and maybe one other sensor.
