Default CTR B16B swap complete somewhat!!

Well I finished off the B16B swap into my 92 hatch tonight. Everything went pretty well and the engine fired up the first time it turned over. I do have a CEL flashing code 22 which is vtec oil pressure switch. Well everyone with a JDM engine knows that they don't have this. The ecu is a reprogrammed p28 with a ctr type program. It does run and drive ok though. For some reason at rpm's greater than 6K or at wot at any rpm the engine bogs. I am going to tackle that tomorrow sometime. Biggest thing is only 1 CEL code and she is runnin'. From my first impressions this is going to be one hell of an engine. I know it isn't running right but it impressed me. I am more impressed with this than my ls swap with jrsc etc. Everyone wish me luck and i will keep everyone infomed as to my progress....

Sounds like that code 22 is throwing it in a safety mode and causing it to cut out. I messed with my VTEC changeover one time and it was set to low so when my vtec was trying to switch over I didn't have enough oil pressure built up. It started bogging also. But I'm sure you already knew that. Sounds like you did a good job.

you might want to take the solenoid off and clean the vtec filter while your at it
when engines sit for a while (who knows the last time that b16b started?) its possible for that to clog
just for maintance, takes no more than 10 minuets
that was the cause of my vtec not working on my swap.

Pull off the VTEC solenoid and you'll see a rubber gasket with a mesh screen in it. That's what he's referring too. I realize there is no hook up for that solenoid and I don't know if your program is eliminating that sensor, I guess not because of the code. Aside from gettin a CTR ecu I don't know exactly what to tell you, sorry.

Well since the engine does not have a pressure switch and the ecu is looking for one we have made a temporary solution to make sure that everything is wired right. Please keep in mind that this engine does not have a pressure switch. You can take and short both of the wires on the pressure switch connector and get the vtec solenoid to engage. I still have a noticeale bog before VTEC engagement but when it engages it is unhuman. Honestly this hast to be the strongest vtec engagement i have ever felt or heard. I have seen and riden in many gsr's etc and the vtec engagement in them is no where like this. Must be the weight difference. Some idiot in a 3000GT V6 decided he wanted to be the first victim last night. 10 lengths in around 500ft. Wasn't even funny much less worth the risk. Anyhow I still have some issues to work out and get everything running right. Wish me luck.... Can't wait to see what she does running correctly

Also we are thinking that we may go ahead an put a pressure switch on the engine anyhow just to avoid having to send the ecu back for reprogramming......
