Do it right or don't do it. Doing it right costs money.

mine cost me just under $1700US.

i bough the block for $750US, had the head, and installed myself...

stock pistons, stock everything. except ARP head studs and rod bolts, enlarged piston reliefs and oil cooler setup.

making around 160whp after a cam gear tune....

no problems after HARD 4000 miles, seeing 7000rpm daily...

getting type R 4-1 ex. manifold next week, so should make 170whp plus (this blows the cost out a bit...)

HTH,

t..

Alright put it this way...
b20-$700
GSR head-$400-500
GSR tranny- $600-800
vtec conversion parts-$50-100
water pump and timing belt-$150
axles-$150
mounts and shift linkage-$450
some kind of jumper harness-$200

Now I am not sure what you are starting with, but I am assuming that you are starting from scratch. Now, this is not everything, but you can see how it starts to add up quickly. I have no idea of assembly nor installation prices cause I do everyhitng myself, but I bet they are not cheap.

you can easily put one together "right" for about 2000-2800.

I don't know what kind of mickey mouse half assed job you guys are doing, but my B20vtec comes to $6000. And this is considered done "right" and pretty much full blown.

Alright, let's say you're starting from scratch and trying to cut as many corners as possible.

B20 block: $700
B16a Head: $300 (anymore and you're getting ripped off, they sell the B16a long block for $400.
Tranny: $700

That's $1700 so far. Now considering that you're not gonna replace anything, these are just the necessities...
$200 for axles
$80 for B-series flywheel
$150 for a replacement clutch
$100 for vtec oil line
$200 for distributor
$150 for shiftlinkage
$200 for engine mounts
$200 for other misc. accessories

That's $3000 for a half assed B20vtec that won't perform so well and who knows how long it will last.

so yeah, your B20VTEC engine cost you around $1000, plus a tranny, $700

then your B20VTEC conversion cost you $3000.

sounds right to me...

my B16A conversion cost around $4000, then my B20VTEC engine cost $1000 and the B20VTEC conversion (oil line, machine work, ARP stuff, misc seals, head gasket etc, ) cost about $700...

so yeah, back to the original question:
how much will it cost in total to turn that crv engine into a cr-vtec??? with a gsr head (hopeuflly) and a gsr tranny....already assembled and instaelled...?????
OK, assuming you have a B series engine bay to start with...

b20 + GSR head + tranny = 1500 to 2000.
B20VTEC converson parts = 300 to 500 (?)
assembly & installation (??!!??)

dunno, how much do shops charge for assembly and installation?

it is cheaper and more satisfying to DIY...
