Default Coolent issue!! Please Help!!!

Ok here it is:
I just swap in my d16z6 into my ef and I drove it around for a few. I noticed that my lower rad. hose is not warm but my top one is. The top one was rock hard. I took the coolent cap off and tons of steam and coolent came pourin out. I am ok.
i thought that it might be the thermostat. So I took one off of my old ZC and put it in. Still no go. The lower rad. hose is still not warm. The gauge shows that I am at running temp. What could it be..
PLEASE HELP!!!!

I would start out with a brand new OEM thermostat then make sure to bleed any air from the coolant system. It's very easy to get air into the system when doing a swap so the air bubbles need bled just like brakes and hydro tranny's.
