actually they should clear regardless of if the problem is fixed. the cel won't come back on until the car is started after the codes are cleared but they won't even clear

Re: (93-lsvtec-eh2)
/\ precisely my problem. We've had the car sit with the battery unhooked for 3 days straight, and the codes were still flashing on the CEL, before we restarted the car. Could be the JDM P13? I am considering a socketed and chipped P28, but I want to be certain, before I drop money on an ECU that I wouldn't need until I'm boosted.
edit: and BTW, the codes were 6, 10, 14. IAB, IAC, and water temp sensors. I've tested/replaced all 3, and they were all good. IAC is clean and operated freely. IAT is off of a dead motor that never threw a CEL. water temp sensor was misconnected. all problems were fixed.
Edit #2: sorry chris, didn't know that was you.

Re: (CWestAccord)
I have a similar problem (albeit different car and motor). However, I am 99.9% confident that I am resetting the ecu (I am using a code scanner).
I have 4 codes after I run the car, and I only get 2 after the ecu has been reset. The 2 remaining codes are sensors, which leads me to believe that either the sensors are bad or the wiring is screwed up somewhere. But, AFAIK, this is pretty clear indication that something is wrong - the code errors are there because of a bad voltage reading received by the ecu, which is why the errors are there.
Please correct me if I am wrong - I have not had a chance to look into this, the car is at a exhaust shop as I am tying this.

if the codes ar showing befoer starting the car then you got serios problems.
as soon asthe ecu gets power it will run a check of sensors and so on as a startup diagnostic. if ti failes any of those checks it will turn the check engine light on and let you know you need to fix the problems.
i would guess you got some bad wiring in there somehwere.
