cable to hydro conversion questions.
ok, i got a Y1 cable tranny in my 92 Civic which originally has a hydro tranny, the shop i got my swap at used a bracket to convert the cable to hydro, when i look at the setup it just looks like they relocated the slave clutch cylinder under the metal bar so it moves the fork, so wheres the bracket? is it the thing that holds the slave cylinder there? also is there any problems with this conversion? cause my clutch feels REALLY hard and it doesn't feel smooth when i step on it, it makes a squeaky creaking noise like something is rusty. i checked all visible joints and greased it all but the noise is still there, some people tell me it's the throw out bearing, what do you guys think?

UMMMMM-- try this
try givin Raver Motorsports a call, you can get the willwood cyl and the place racing utarthane mount for about 300. IT"S NOT GHETTO.... it's what you gotta do if you want to run that tranny. I used it, it worked, it worked really good and there was no noise that I heard. Would not recommend cable tranny for drag, street and scca only.

Re: UMMMMM-- try this (advanracing62)
why would you not reccomend cable tranny for drag racing? A lot of drag racers use these trannys....just to name a few: Ed Bergenholtz and Lisa Kubo converted also....The reason why they do this is that it's easier to adjust the pedal and the trannys are cheap. That's why my 92 civic is going cable when my motor goes back in...

Re: UMMMMM-- try this (Slow_ass_4dr)
this is true that ed and lisa are running cable. However they are also running built trannies from quaife. Cable trannies accuate the release bearing a little slower than hydro. Yes you can adjust the clutch which is good. That's why i wanted one. But there is a huge difference in the actual way that you have to shift gears on a normal cable vs a norma hydro. i like the cable alot, mainly because of cost. In my situation where i race scca and drag and illegals i need to run something that is going to be strong and a little more reliable for me.
