ok the first of my queries is; on a OBD2a car, what sensors can you start your car with, and if not wired correctly or not connected which ones wont let it start?

and my next queries is that does the knock sensor need to be shielded, form the diagram i am looking at, it apears that it does need to be sheilds. and anyone have experience on this topic
