Default Building an LSVtec with B17A1

My drivers side motor mount broke and cracked the block, now it's leaking anti-freeze. I have a b18A block. What parts should I use off the B17A to build my LSVtec? Any other suggestions are appreciated.

i'm curious as to how you are going to build an LSVTEC motor with a B18A block that is cracked?

you could just swap in the B17A motor complete if you have everything.
or if you have a good B18A/B block to use, then take the entire top end from the B17A and install it on the B18A/B block. basically from the HG up.

I have a B17A1 in my car now. My B17A1 is cracked and leaking antifreeze. I have a B18A block. I think you misunderstood my post.

I was going to strip the B17A1 block and use some of its parts on the B18A. I just wanted to know what I should use off the B17 bolck.

the head. intake manifold. i think the crank and pistons will swap *** well. but the rods are different length.

the way you worded everything made it sound as if the block that's in the car, which was damaged, was the B18A and that the B17A was the backup.

you could use the B17A pistons in the B18A block, as long as the cylinder bores don't need to be overbored or are out-of-round. the deck on the the B18A is higher than the B17A so the C/R would change a bit if you swap the B17A crank, rods and pistons into the B18A block. there may even be some damage to the internals in the B17A block, but you'll have to inspect everything.

you could just modify the B18A block for the VTEC head (oil orfices/lines etc) and then just install the entire top end from the B17A onto it. that's what i recommended in my first post. that would be the easiest way to do it.
or you could build the B18A block up so that it will last longer when given the higher revs, not to mention run higher C/R pistons for more power.
