Default BMW powered by DOHC VTEC?! :)

Well, it happened in Japan, a Trueno with an S2000 powerplant.. now someone with too much money in Thailand has decided to put one into their old BMW E30 318i.. I wonder how many people will be calling this BMW "rice" hehe

Its unbelievable, but it looks real. I wouldnt doubt the swap. Those Jap's are crazy! They dropped a Skyline motor in a Supra? And they are also crazy conversions and putting the 4cyl Turbo cars in Supra (Top Secret).
They put the 3S-GTE in the Supra for better weight balance, that is the only reason

One of my favorites is a DOHC VTEC in a mini. I've seen a couple guys that have either done that or a SOHC. Talk about a sleeper.

its fake...the 'H' mark should be perpendicluar to the writing...look at the pics again!! Plus the real f20 valve cover is much longer!

This is a JDM car.. who says it's not different... we have DOHC VTEC B's with a BIG DOHC and a small VTEC or a small DOHC and a big VTEC don't we? Honda didn't always follow cosmetic "rules"...

That's for Acura's...because the JDM Integras have the Honda logo instead...the S2000 should be the same...still doesn't explain the size...S2000 valve cover is longer...

It is not the same motor as is in the picture of the S2000 - look at the location of the oil fill cap and there is a sensor snugged up by the firewall does not appear on the USDM pictures. My guess is it is a real JDM S2000 motor in a BMW, or a very good photoshop of oune - all the hoses and wires are complete.

It is probably a real motor in a real car, but wether it runs or not is another story.

Looks real to me. Seems that if it was fake, there would be no need for that VTEC solenoid.

Also, pics are a little deceptive. They can be resized so that they look smushed or stretched. If you look at the pic of the white S2000, that seems like a HUGE engine bay. It is not that big in real life.

I have a friend from Thailand and he says they do that stuff all the time. He said he used to have a BMW with a Supra turbo engine in it.

Oh and DOHC VTEC Mini?? The engine bolts right in.

How about the miata with a rb26dett in it pushing 500 RWHP.

If your a bored mechanic and wanna be different this is what you do :D Now a 2jz-gte in a old lightweight bimmer would be cool. I think the reason we dont see swaps like that in the US is because a lot of us like to stay with the same brand. IE Honda in Honda - Nissan in Nissan etc etc.

I looks real to me. Look at the picture of the J-Spec S2000 a couple posts below the orginal post. For those of you concerned about cosmetic differences you will notice the position of the "H" on the J-Spec S2000 matches the one in the Bimmer. The angle on the orginal picture is funny so the block looks fatter, you aren't looking at it straight down. Just remember first appearences aren't everything. If I got an aftermarket red DOHC VTEC valve cover and put it on a B18B motor does that mean I automatically transformed my Integra LS into a Type-R?

No, it would mean you have an LS/VTEC...dohc vtec valve covers don't fit on ls/b20 heads.

HA!!
You have no clue what you're talking about.
I know someone who's currently doing this... one thing this motor does not do is bolt right it.
You have to cut the Mini chasis on the sides, manufacture the mounts, possible move the firewall and definetly chop ip the radiator support.
Some people have moved the alternator to the front in order to have room in the back.
Yeah, bolts right in.
