best engine to put in a 91 hatchback?
I just bought a 91 hatchback. The engine was bad in so i got it real cheap and want to find out what the best engine is (h/p wise, ) that would fit.
It has a 4speed manual tranny in it , was also woundering if any knows where i could get a 6spd for it, or what type of 6sp would work with it.
Sorry for the dumb questions this it the first import car that ive ever owned.
I appriciate the help.

well you have alot of options for your hatch....
you can go zc, b series, or h series...
Most honda trannys are 5sp....there are 6sp trannys, however they are found in the k series...and some of the acura sedans... do a search on engine swaps and and within a week or two you will start to get a feel for what direction you want to go depending on your dollars and dedication...

broad q's are ok when u are new in my opinion depending on buget i would do a j-spec ITR swap. you can start off like everybody else with a b16 but then you will just spend $$$ on purchasing itr parts for it and in the end it is still a b16 . an in the past we ave seen ef chassis cars (88-91) with stock itr swaps run 13.5s- 12.85's

really? do you have any proof of that? is it on slicks or street tires? stripped out, or full interior? this is the first i have heard of an ef going that fast with a stock type r.

Re: (ninefivehatch)
SURE I HAVE A COUPLE OF PICS IN MY SHOP AND YES THEY WERE ON SLICKS (THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO RACE) HERE IS HOW IT GOES... A STOCK JDM ITR MAKES APPROX 170-175HP AT THE WHEELS. AN EF CHASSIS IS A LIGHT VEHICLE. WITH A GOOD DRIVER AN EF CHASSIS WITH A J-SPEC ITR AND 22/8/13 SLICKS WILL GO 13.5-12.8 STOCK. IVE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES AND REMEMBER THIS IS JUST MY OPINION ON THE BEST MOTOR TO START WITH
