Bar Question (Cali)
If I put a 1998 GSR motor into my 1998 LS, would I still have to go to the state referee to get barr'd even though that particular engine was an available choice. I tried searching but couldn't find any particular answers on that scenario.
The answer is NO, since the engine was available for the Integra model, but all the emissions from the GSR has to be swapped over into the LS to make it legal. The correct ECU (manual ECU) and basically the emission parts that is labeled under the hood. EVAP canister is not necessary since they both are the same.

Cool. Thats what i've been hearing. I just wanted to see if others thought the same thing or I could find the smog law about that.

Its not about what others "think"... its about what the law is. If you have any doubts you should be on the phone with the REF to clear things up.
You do not need to ref the car as already mentioned. The engine was available in that model that year, its a legal swap. Make sure the ECU you are using matches the year of the engine and is a Cali emissions group ECU, not a 49 state. The cali ECU's have "A0#" in the numbering.
