Back in the Game, B20 Question
I have been out of the car scene (not by choice) for a few years, but have recently gotten back in it after I purchased an EM1 civic from a friend of mine. I swapped a B20 into it, as I bought the car with a blown motor. The compression is a little higher than stock, at 9.2:1. Still using the B16 trans, I am just wondering what is safe to rev to without risking a blowing up this new motor? I know the powerband is pretty useless above 6k but that is irrelevant to my question.
Thanks!

stock b20 in the crv has a pretty low rev limit. Although with a good tune you should be safe up to 7300 rpms. same as an LS engine. After that you risk stretching the rod bolts. plus I guess you get valve float around then anyways. I have had my b20 revlimit at 7300 for about 4 years now. all good so far. Boosted about 240hp for 1 year too.
some people go over 7300 with vtec setups with no problems. but 7300 is a good safe number with no worries

if you have the motor out, pick up some arp rod bolts for SOME security. my buddy put a set in his b20b and revs 8.5k when hes on the streets. 2 years later still running the same block but now with VTEC.

Even though I got arp rod bolts on my ls rods I only rev to 8k. Still skeptic bout goin any higher on ls rods with arp bolts. Still fast as sh*t to me lol
