Default B20 in DA Integra

So after some researching, I'm thinking this is the engine I want to go with in my 90 LS, despite the fact that it can never be barred here in California.

There are many questions that I still have about this swap, however. This is just the beginning of the research.

Is there any kind of end-all B20 swap guide floating around here on H-T? I searched, but no luck. Even tried on g2ic. I know I'll need the intake manifold off of my LS, I'm not sure if the B20 is cable or hydro tranny, I'm thinking cable, in which case I'd just use the stock transmission until I could get my hands on a GSR one.

What else do I need? I've heard that this is a fairly simple "drop in" swap. Someone help a noob!

Im confused. You said in your title B20 in a DA, but then your talking about an LS. These are two diffrent motors. The B20 is either from an older prelude or a CRV. I dont know anything about the prelude one really. The CRV however is an automatic hydro tranny. You can bolt any b-series tranny to it however. Also if you go B20 and decide to throw a vtec head on there you will need to do a whole bunch of little modifications. Here is your B20 guide you were looking for:

No, I was just saying that I want a B20 in my 90 LS.

My Integra has a cable tranny, correct? What is the process of changing the setup to a hydro? Would everything be solved by just replacing my transmission with a GSR one?

O ok that makes alot more sense now. If you have a cable tranny set up right now it would just be easier to stay with a cable tranny. Unless you want to swap over to hydro. If you do want to go with a hydrolic setup it would be easiest to buy a conversion Kit. I dont know who makes them but I know you can get them. You would need stuff like the lines master cylinder etc.. I have never done one so it would probally be best to ask someone who has.

I'd rather stay with cable if I have cable now. I'm new to swaps and Integras, I was unaware the B20 came in anything but the CRV? I was under the impression that the B20 uses a hydro tranny in which case you would have to change over from cable to hydro in any case.

I guess I'm wrong?

There was a B20 in Older preludes, but its pretty shitty. As far as I know all B20 transmissions are hydro, but I dont think you want one of those anyways. They are all automatic and the gearing is horrible. They also cant handle that much power. Your best bet is to do a hydro conversion with whatever b series hydro transmission you want.

I was planning on using my LS transmission till I could get my hands on a GSR tranny, but it seems like that wont be possible.

So, best bet in your opinion would to get a B20z w/ a GSR tranny and do the cable to hydro conversion all at once?

Is it a big deal to change from cable to hydro or would I simply need to buy one of the conversions they sell at hasport and be done with it?

Why don't you use a B20 shortblock with the rest of your original stuff?
There is no point in going to a hydro trans unless you get a gsr or itr/b16 trans for better gearing.

Are you planning to build the b20? If not, I really don't see the point in this swap.
IMHO, your money would be better spent on LS internals and cams.
And if you want more displacement, sleeve the block so it is still your oe engine and should fly under smog radar with a good tune.

I plan on building the block someday, I just want something with a little more torque for now. My motor isn't really cut out to build the internals, at 196,000 miles I don't think it'd be worth the money.

well if you swapped the internals and did the rebuild then you would be back at 0 miles. I would have to agree that thats a better idea then you going B20. If you want get a gsr head or b26 head that will boost your tourqe and horsepower quite significantly.
