B20 cranks, but doesnt START?!?!?
Hey you guys i've just dropped in my b20vtec into my hatch over the weekend. when i went to start up the car alls it does is crank, but no spark to start it? anyone have any ideas what could be the problem?
i have a couple plugs that dont even have anywhere to plug them into? im running the b20 in a 96 hatch w/ 97ex harness and for some reason the harness has extra plug-in's ....probably like 3 plugs at most or just 2?
i can get pics tomorrow...but i know i didnt have a plug for the crank angle sensor, theres 5th plug where you plug in your fuel injectors plugs, and theres one that comes outta the firewall that looks like it'll matchs the crankangle sensor but thats way too far from it! those are the only ones i can think of....but im sure theres 1 more maybe

when you're using a harness from another motor/car sometimes wires have to be extended to reach. you said one plug fits the CAS, it just might fit. go ahead and cut it and see if it fits. if worse comes to worse you just have to splice it back together, no biggie right? lemme know how it goes.
yea true...i've also been told that another reason for my car not starting is because it could be throwing some CEL, preventing my ecu from firing the engine? but i have no idea how to check it on a obd2 car..obd1 i know theres a plug u can easily jump to see...any ideas?

Don't think so. The ecu doesnt just say "oh sorry were not gonna fire today". It could not be getting a good crank position sensor signal tho. So you say no spark? So I take it you took a plug wire off and looked to see if there was a spark when you turned it over? Anyways check your dizzy. could be anything from a bad ckp sensor to a bad coil. Also I dont think that something not hooked up short of the whole dizzy plug would cause the ecu to not fire the engine. Also check the ecu ground and make sure its hooked up.
