the b18a has 130hp whereas the b18b has 140hp. the main horsepower increase is from the cams which gives you a 7-8hp gain. plus, the chances are that the b18a has a lot more miles on it, since it was only sold in 90-91 integras, i think it was in 92 when the switched to b18b. the computers would be different as well, cause the b18a is obd-0 and the b18b is obd-1. dude is full of it and is just trying to get rid of his motor.

90-91 B18A- OBD0 130 HP restrictive head design.
92-93 B18A- OBD1 140 HP better flowing head
94-95 B18B- OBD1 142 HP not sure how they squeezed out 2 more hp.
all of this is usdm.

Exactly. 94+ have a different intake manifold and slightly better cams

Not true. All 1990-1993 B18A use the same head, which does not flow as well as the B18B/B20 head. The 1992-1993 B18A gets 10 more HP due to better cams and ECU programming. Also, the B18B has a better intake manifold than the B18A. But due to the smaller intake ports on the B18A, this manifold probably won't help a B18A.

Exactly. Although the ecu programming has alot more to do with it than the cams. They just "tweeked" the cams slightly to accomodate the slightly higher redline(6800rpms in 90-91, 7200rpms in 92-93). Ive got a few spare LS heads that im porting right now and i measured all the ports to see how much of a difference there really is. The 90-93 has basically the same size exhaust ports as the 94up...but the intake ports on the 94 are noticebly larger. I actually prefer porting the 90-93 heads because they give you a little more material to work with...and a little more room for error. I also noticed that the runners on the 90-93 IM's seem to be a little longer than the 94up...which might explain why it makes peak tq about 500rpms sooner than the 94 but makes a little less high end. These are just things that ive learned from personal experience...take it with a grain of salt.
