B16B vs B16A?!?!?!
Is there any difference in the block...the stroke...or is it just the head that the b16b gets that extra juice....I thought that the b16b utilizes the same block as the gsr and type r making me able to put a b18 bottom end unlike a b16a that is 6mm shorter....help me out here.

the b16b is just a destroked itr motor, so to amke it into a 1.8 you can use the itr crank and connecting rods and you'll actually be pushing more torque then an itr would with the ctr pistons.

I actually had a B16B in my 98'CX Hatch, it was very close if not the same as a B16A until 6K RPMs. From 6K to 8600K it was the most beautiful sounds I have ever heard. As far as the block, it does share the same deck as the GSR, those are the parts we used during install,i.e. timing belt, water pump etc. The cylinder head is hand ported and polished and has more aggressive cams, intake manifold, and throtlle body (I think).
By far beats the **** out of B16A stock vs. stock. The trans is very nice and close ratios like the ITR, mine was 4.4 FD and they all come with LSD.
I def. wanted to upgrade to the Spoon 1.8L stroker kit, but chose otherwise. I really did not want to comprimise the most unique B series motor ever produced in my mind.

Re: B16B vs B16A?!?!?! (Boostage)
so you had to piston to valve clearance issues when putting in the 1.8 bottom end....so then its only the B16A that has a 6mm or so shorter block than all the other b motors

Not sure who you are talking to, but a stroker kit that I was referring to was not installed. If it were it is only internal, no block changes.
I believe that the B16A is a shorter block yes.
Hope that helps.

^^^This is correct^^^
If you want more evidence, research it, it's everywhere, i've probably seen about 5 of these threads in the past month, and i don't even look for them.
