Default b16a2 into 98 cx

ok i'm gettin a motor outta a 00 si swap with linkage, axles, mounts... i want to know what i'm gonna need to know to put it in...

from what i hear it will drop right in, but i need the rear mount (which will come with it).....and from what i heard all the plugs will plug right in all the sensors then i just gotta hardwire the remaing ones for vtec through the firewall..... but what do i do about exhaust, because my cat is right by the exh. manifold, what do i do to make all the exhaust work and i still wanna have a cat in there somewhere, should i just use an aftermarket header and buy a universal cat and have a muffler shop do all the rigging?:? thanks

i wasn't asking for a detailed swap instruction, i've done a few b series swaps before, just not in a CX, i was really only asking about what to do with exhaust and the driverside mount... i'm sure this thread has been done 1000 times over so i'm sorry

Well I did my friend's GSR into his 96 EK... Your swap is a lot easier however... What i basically did on his was pull apart the whole engine harness to fit the GSR along with all the extra wires... For the driverside upper motor mount that bolts to the block just keep it the 99 Si. Same for the rear bracket... I would recommend some prothane inserts or just using the 99-00 Si mount that bolts to the crossmember.. Let us know of anything else

thank you, for a solid answer.... now the one left is because the exhaust is all fucked up on a cx and the cat is pretty much in the engine bay when i put a b16 in i'm gonna have a header too should i just have a muffler shop rig a universal cat because i still want one

No one wants to run a cat. If it wasn't for emissions, there would be no need.

But yea, a muffler shop can do your whole exhaust for you. Try and find a place that uses MANDREL bent piping. And make sure the cat inlet/outlet size is the same diameter as your exhaust piping.

can't you just use the 00 Si wiring harness?

i wanna try to use my harness, and just the remaining sensors just hardwire them through the firewall....

yeah i don't know of anybody locally that can mandel bend which sucks i really don't want crinkle bullshit under there but i don't know what else to do unless i can order all the exhaust off a 00 si and pray that it bolts up to the flange on the cx, but i don't know if that would work

Sorry I had to go to class earlier so I left out the exhaust part out, On my friend hatch we used a stock Teg catalytic convertor even tho he doesn't have to DEQ his car... We just took it at got it piped back with 2.25" all the way back to the stock DX muffler... Just a lil sleeper haha.. After a few weeks the muffler pipe before the canister exploded (it was already a bit rusted and i guess the GSR just ran a lil too much pressure through it) So he drove it around without a muffler which actually wasn't too bad because of the catalytic... I personally hate aftermarket mufflers... Either stock or no muffler for me.. hehe Like a month and a half ago he took the same stock blown up muffler in to the same shop he had it piped at originally and they fixed it... It basically just sounds like a stock GSR with an intake.... Kinda nice when you can't even hear it idling from behind.. Anyways that's just what we did for him...

yeah my piping before the canister rotted off too, so are you suggesting i just get a header for a 00 si and run a teg cat after it, and just find the right lenght piping with flanges to take up the rest of the space?

Forgot to add this, he just had a DC 4-1 GSR header in the beginning before the pipe exploded on the muffler..... Then the header cracked so he ran a stock USDM ITR but we had to have the pipe shortened.... Then the other day when we got the exhaust put back on they welded the header, lengthened the cat back to where it orginally was the we got the muffler put on... I love riding in his car now... It's so quiet.. I was stupid in the first place for telling him to get a DC header for a GSR... Since it was a GSR it didn't come with an oxygen sensor port so the muffler shop had to put one in... As for you i would go whatever header you want. We should have just got an LS.. Unless you put a testpipe in then just run your stock catalytic convertor... Just get a custom pipe run back and flanged with your stock muffler or (just run straight back if you don't like mufflers or any aftermarket muffler that you like... It's ended up costing a lot because it's been modified so many times for stupid *** reasons. For just running that pipe back a shop should charge no more than $75... Hope you can understand this...haha Latez
