Default b16a block differences

Do all US spec b16a engines have a suffix on the block stamp?? (ex. B16a2 or B16a3) Just asking because our b16a (first gen white connectors) engine just has B16a stamp on the block by the tranny, which according to the hybrid site, is the way ALL the JDM engines came, and all the US spec engines had a suffix on the end of it. Am I correct on that?
