It should just plug in like any other swap. The tranny is controlled by the ECU though so you will need to swap the ENTIRE chassis harness. Do-able but a MAJOR pain in the *** and not worth it IMHO.

It MIGHT be possible to run the 96 auto LS off a 95, OBD1 auto ECU but i'm out of my depth on that one. I'm not fond of automatics anyway.

Get the Helms manuals for both cars and study the systems in detail (paying particular attention to the wiring diagrams, harness plugs and pin-outs) I've swapped a 2001 Type R ABS system into a 93 CX so anything is possible given time and effort.

i am one of the few with the knowledge you need to get where you want to be. i did auto to auto with 95 ls into 95 civ. i had to figure everything out and it took me two months. if you need someone to do it, then pay me and i'll come to VA and i'll do it of course for $. i have the wiring diagrams and the info on little things that you'll need like a tranny control module. you don't need the entire harness like someone said. you can wire in all the necessary wires, which is about 30 of them. and you should make sure to get the mounts for the auto tranny. this would of course be a little different than a 5th gen, but probably not significantly in terms of getting all the stuff to work. when i did mine, i had to shim the mounts and do all kinds of weird cutting frame, and grinding parts for clearance. you also need a automatic intermediate shaft because it is different than the manual ones. i can sell you the auto intermediate shaft and tcm if you want. they are for a '95 but will work in your case.

i've done numerous five speed conversions and online assisted in two auto to auto swaps.
