Default Any good tips for a seemingly simple swap?

I have a 95 LS and my first step in the obvious upgrade cycle will be to put in a B18C5. I really want the Type R motor, so I'm pretty much not gonna change my mind about that. I realize how similar these engines are, but that they are different in several ways. I kinda want to get most of the stuff from hondamotorsonline or nippon motors, as I've heard good stuff from many people about both. Are there any parts that would come up that maybe one would not take into consideration? Any special problems that crop up that someone who hasn't swapped a motor before should know?

I've been reading that the wiring could be a little of a mess. Something about an OSDM1 or something like that. I am under the understanding that it changed after 95. And of course, the B18C5 will be later than that. Any pointers about that?

I would think an easy way to go about it would be to run an obd-1 chipped ecu to run the motor. There are several guys on the site that offer ECU reprograming. From there you still need to pin the actual wires for vtec from the engine bay harness to your ECU. Several guys have diagrams on which pinouts are which for the VTEC wires and knock sensor- ( you may not need to run a knock sensor if your running a chipped ECU). Just search around, theres plenty of info on the wiring and actual swap. I know how's its done in the Civics so it should pretty similar in the Tegs. Hope this helped a little. Anyone feel free to correct any misinformation I spit out

you have a 95 ls so just stay obd1.. i have a spec r swap in my 5g hatch and i didnt have any problems with the install at all. you can use your old evap can/ solenoid as well so you dont have to buy those. just make sure everything is wired up correctly and you'll be fine...and make sure you have a helms manual
