Are all D15 blocks the same?
What's up guys. I have a stock 92 CX hatch with the 70hp D15B8 motor. I wanted to do either a head swap or complete motor swap. I was thinking for head swap, a D16Z6 or D16Y8 head. Now, are all D15 blocks the same? Same bore, stroke, and all that? Because there's the JDM VTEC D15b motor that puts out 125hp I believe? So if it's the same block as mine, can the differnt head and intake/exhaust manifolds really increase the power by 55hp? I was just wondering because if i were to put a Y8 head on my D15 block, would I be getting that much of a gain to make it worth it? Or would getting a complete JDM D15B VTEC or D16Y8 still be more powerful? I have a HondaTuning mag with a Mini-Me article and it says with a Y8 head the compression would be bumped up to 10.5:1 from my stock 9.1:1. Also with 16 valves instead of 8 and of course VTEC. So, if anyone has done this head swap or has any thoughts, please let me know. Thanks.
