Adding wires (shock to ecu harness)
Hey, i am almost done with my b16a3 del sol swap into my d15b7 del sol... i have the b16 motor harness on the car, everything is hooked up, except i need to wire the knock sensor... I know it is on pin c2, but the problem is, is what kind of wiring should i use to wire the KS.. should the wire i have have a pin that will stick into the ECU plug, or could it be a half stripped wire, just shoved in the and held on by something?

you can splice into the knock sensor itself and add a wire there and do the same for the ecu harness. or, you can go to the wrecking yard and buy a complete underdash and shock tower harness and take the wires out of those harnesses and pin them into the necessary slot on the shock/ecu harness, like i did.

Yes you are correct, the Knock sensor uses shielded wire. This blocks out electrical interference's from other sensors which might otherwise trip the sensor. I've seen a few people use standard wire and it never works.

do you have a pic of how you wired the knock sensor because the way i wired it, i pinned in a factory wire from a harness that i took apart into the empty slot with the rubber plug, in the shock tower harness. and of course, pinned in the other end of the wire to the ECU harness.

This is exactly how I did it as well.

I did the same thing by utilizing an existing wire in my 92 VX with 99 B18C1. This wire however, was one of the extra O2 sensor wires on the extra plug and again it was a shielded wire. You can look at any Helms manual and you will see the factory knock sensors use shielded wire.
