Default ac bracket confusion

JDM GSR into EK

on the HH write up, it says to use dohc vtec del sol bracket...

then he shows this picture-

that says 99-00 si.

this dude http://www.hondamarketplace.co...48956 is selling what he claims is a 99-00 si a/c bracket...it looks exactly like the GSR, the subtle differences are not there. He has two and they look exactly like GSR ones, but the one he's selling has p30 on it?

so, can i use a true 99-00 si bracket to mount my stock 97 compressor on this JDM GSR? and is the seller in that FS thread mistaken about what that mount is??

EDIT: ok, i called honda and both the del sol vtec and the 99-00 si use the same part number mount. so that means i can use either for sohc compressor. makes life easier. these have the outer bottom bolt of the compressor bolts LOWER than the other bottom bolt, unlike the one for sale in that thread (actually, unlike both of them he's selling)

so am i on point here that i can use the 99-00 si or what?! haha

get the P7J ac bracket from a 97 CRV. Its half the price of the Del sol one. Thats what I'm using. I have 2000 GSR swap in my 97 civic.

Yeah because the del sol vtec and 99-00 SI are both B16 motors so they are not sohc compressors.

You either need the B16 compressor or run the P7J bracket for your A/C.

wait, now you are saying that i can't use either the del sol one OR the si one? But in the write-ups everyone says to use the del sol one if i want to keep my sohc compressor? then some people say you can't use the si one, but the part numbers are the same and the bolt holes for the sohc compressor are the same as the compressor bolt holes on the del sol and 99-00 si brackets???

this is freakin' confusing man...

this dude says to use the del sol one, and pictures a 99-00 si one- http://kosmo.homedns.org/trey/6gen/

like i said, that makes sense because the bolt holes for the compressor are exactly how they are on those brackets...

at any rate, i guess it doesn't matter because i'll just use this cheaper CRV one, but it's very confusing because everyone says something different!

thanks for the input tho guys!

i just had my swap done last week. i used the crv bracket. it is half the price of the del sol bracket. you will also need the tensioner parts as well. a/c works perfectly.

here is a list of parts i used...

crv bracket #38930-pj7-000

here are the part #'s for the tensioner pully...
38941-pr3-000
90054-p3f-000
38950-p3f-305
38944-p2t-000
90086-pr3-000

you are looking at about $170 for all of the parts.

i ordered all of the parts from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com.

</TD></TR></TABLE>

can i use the tensioner bits that came on the gsr ac bracket or my sohc bracket bits?

i believe you can, I'm not 100% sure, but you have SOHC and DOHC tensioner parts so you can try them both out when u get the new bracket. I would try them out before spending more money

GSR tensioner parts! your stock SOHC wont fit. i found this out when i was having the motor installed. my stock parts did not fit. i had to order these parts and wait 5 days for them to come in to complete my swap.

i also ordered the bolts to mount the bracket on my gsr block. im not sure if my stock ones were going to fit, so i purchased the bolts when i ordered my a/c bracket. i think they were less than $1 per bolt.

FWIW, the sohc compressors do in fact bolt up to the del sol/99-00Si bracket.

The CRV bracket is almost half the price though.

yeah, I just wanted to clear it up in case someone is sitting there with a p30 bracket in their hand, thinking they needed a different one.

OK, if I did a b16 swap in my EK, I can use the pj7 crv bracket, us the part #'S you got listed for the tennsioner pully, I can still use my y8 sohc A/C compressor or will I need a b series compressor? Sorry, Iam just kinda confused. Thanks

well, if the b16 swap comes with an ac bracket, some say you can use that. I know for a fact the del sol dohc vtec one works w/ the sohc compressor, and that is the same part number as the 99-00 si one at honda, but like i've mentioned in this thread previously, i've seen now two people with brackets they say are off of a 99-00 si b16a2 that have the wrong holes for an sohc compressor to fit

so, yes, the CRV bracket will work and DOHC tensioner stuff...with that you can use your sohc compressor.

it should indeed, do you mean the bolts to the block fitment? if so, yes because the bolt holes for the brackets are all the same between alll the b's. the only difference between some of them of course is the ac compressor mount holes.

does the car already have ac from the sohc? if so, use a CRV bracket or any bracket that has compressor holes like the one on the right of the pic in the first post...

you can see how the bottom compressor holes are close together and the outer lower one is lower than the inner lower- that is the hole pattern for a sohc compressor.
