5th gear grind
when shifting from 4th to 5th at highway speeds i get a bit of a grind when going into gear.. any ideas what the problem could be? worn synchro? fluid not topped off?

Check your tranny fluid. If it is lower than what is should be, that is likely the problem. Ive had that happen, and for some reason the fifth gear gets fluid last and if there is not enough it will grind. THis may or may not solve the problem.

Well if this is on the h22, They are known to have a bad syncro on 5th gear. The best thing to do is change out the Fluid to "GM syncromesh" It is $9 per quart. I had the grind on my 5th gen Lude and as soon as i added the oil the shifting was better and after 500 miles the grind was GONE!!! i can not make it grind?!! I REALLY reccomend the oil...

i heard that because 5th gear is the farthest away, it receives less oil then all the other gears, so, you might as well just try changing the oil and filling it up til it starts spilling out.
