Default 2000 EJ8 Build

Hey guys,

First off, I'm sorry if this has already been answered hundreds of times before but from all the google searches I've done, I think asking the question myself might yield the answers I've been looking for.

I have a 2000 Civic (Canadian) Si (EX - EJ8). I recently bought it and one of the previous owners had replaced the D16 with the JDM D15B with the Stage-3 VTEC. Not sure if it had been re-configured for fuel efficiency before but VTEC only kicks in at 5500 RPM.

I'm looking to do a swap with my goal whp being in the range between 220-300 (Car is lighter in the front, fibre glass hood). Keep in mind, the swapped engine would be fully built. The three swaps I have been looking into were the B18C1 (GS-R), B18C5 (ITR) and a JDM H22A (Red top) H2B swap. I'm trying to keep a stock sleeper look (except for the exhaust and rims) on my civic so my preferred preference would be to run N/A but I'm also interested in seeing information regarding going turbo as well (Kind of want that turbo sound). My civic is a daily driver, 227km on it (not sure about the D15B).

It's difficult to find decently priced swaps up here that aren't B16 or D series and the H2B kit alone is such a turn off because of how bad our dollar is doing. So I'd like to know which of those 3 motors would probably help me reach my goal for both N/A and turbo'd along with which transmission would best suit them. Before swapping, my goal is to rebuild the motor and fully build it (bottom and upper end). Am also planning on relocating the battery to trunk if that counts for any constellations. Budget is enough to purchase a motor and transmission. Mods and such will come as time goes on (Motor won't be swapped until fully built just so I can keep driving the car as of right now).

Thanks everyone and I appreciate any feedback.

Eric

So I decided to stay away from an H swap and focus more on the D15B already in the car. Most likely going to turbo it. Right now I'm trying to find a ECU for it (most likely the stock P2J-003 meant for the engine) and possibly tune it if I can. Is it worth the hassle of building this motor or should I just look into getting a B18?

Are you still looking for a p2j-003 ecu? I have one if you need one.
