is this worth it?
is a yellow s2000 with 81k mileage , 2 rips on softtop both sides, 1 rear tires almost worn out, and the paint on the nose is coming off for 14g worth it? because im planning to get a s2ooo , just cant find a really good cheap one, please help me out =[
1. its an s2000. not an s2ooo.
2. please provide the year
3. if you can't afford one, than thats that. don't go cheap and then cry because you got something thats fuc ked up. (i'm not at all bashing you if you can't. thats just life. i can't afford some things i want right now but i'm not gonna stretch to try and do it)

heres your repair list:
-S2000 81k= $14,000
-Soft Top= ~$800
-2 New Tires= ~$300
-Fix Front (that will last)= ~$400
Total=15,500 + Any labor, Shipping Cost, Ect...
16k for a beat up s2000 with 81k miles...no thanks, i paid that much for a mint one with only 40k miles
My advice is dont cheap out i tried to when i first started to look..and lets just say 2months wasted..when the car i bought was what my manager was selling the whole time but thought i could find it cheaper.
Good luck man

If you're penny-pinching now, you're not going to like this car. You'll rice it out cause that's all you'll be able to afford, stick with the RSX. And YES I'm telling you what you'll do cause it's written all over the wall when you say S2000 and CHEAP in the same sentence. But do you're thing, buy a ragged out used one and have fun paying for all the repairs.

you see, the funny thing about you graf-fiti, is that on your signature you put down people who have cars bought by mommy and daddy. then you have a guy coming here, asking if a "cheap" s2k is a good buy or not and then you put that person down, even though he's apparently buying it with his own money, instead of his parents.
now instead of responding like LAS2K and adding something useful, you'll jump into the thread, put the guy down for trying to buy a car he likes and not add anything of value to the topic at hand.
pretty much as usual!!!
hey maybe you got lucky and don't have to pay bills at home, or went to school and got the job with the big paycheck, but other people may not be as lucky. so if the guy wants an s2k and his money situation is not up to your standards, why put him down? why not steer him in the right direction and explain why buying this car may be a bad idea if you don't have the means at the moment...
or maybe he doesn't wanna buy a $20k or $30k S2000, i know i didn't when i bought my used one, even though i could had afforded to get a new one if i wanted to, and he just wants to get a used one and is trying to see if its a good price.
please don't take this wrong, i actually respect some of your views, is just the way you disrespect people here for no other reason than them not sharing your ideas...

1. look where cheaping out got you: waiting for your motor to be rebuilt after it blew
2.some people here need to get a little thicker skin. people can't see that it's simply just a test to gauge a person's reaction: if you get a little butt hurt over things, you're a bitch. if you talk a little **** back, then you're cool in my book.
this is just really for amusement purposes. i have no problem complimenting or leading someone in the right direction, but for the most part alot of the **** in here is starting to become a remix of the integra forum

actually i got a brand new engine from honda on my 70k miles' s2k, since i bought the extended warranty.
but there was no way i could had known that was gonna happen when i got the car and thats why i got the warranty, which is something i'll let people know if they come here to ask about buying a used car...
i keep going back to the same thing, some of you s2000 owners think that you own a bentley or something, the way you talk about how expensive to own and only people with big money should own, but then again is a freaking honda.
is it a lot more to own than a rsx? not really. the parts prices are about the same and maintenance also. the only big difference is the starting price of the vehicle...
i believe you and a couple of your clones are the reasons why this section is becoming like the integra forums, as you put it. i.e stupid comments, no help, no technical advices, lack of respect for others etc. same thing you get when you deal with the ricers on the other sections... now if you wanted to make the s2k a better section, why not act like a big boy and share your knowledge without the bullshit...

i feel as if your the one with no respect. some of these guys have over 50k in their cars. thats not expensive to you?
for an 18 year old who works and goes to school full time, this car is hella expensive. To me this car is like a [freak]ing ferarri...and when i get to the age of 30 i plan on stepping it up to a gt3 or something.
dont ever compare my beast to a rsx
half of the **** i have had/need to buy, the rsx doesnt even have...so how are the prices the same?
i have about $1500 in just differentials.
i need a new top =$800
new clutch and flwheel=atleast $1000
tires= $800
and the list goes on

sorry man i wasn't trying to disrespect you or your car.
now of course $50k is a lot of money, don't get me wrong i work just as hard for my money as you do for yours, but to me is funny how people put the s2k on a pedestal and worship it like it's god's give to motoring... thats all.
also, of course the s2k will have different type of repairs that the rsx won't require but the maintenance value of the vehicle is about the same. (i.e the type of oil, oil filter, tranny fluid, coolant and other maintenance parts cost about the same for both cars.)
and graf, i really hate to beat a dead horse but you were the one complaining about the quality of material on the s2k forum, but you are really not doing anything to help. hey, i was right behind you telling some of these noobs to gtfo and search properlly before posting stupid questions, but you go beyond that, which turns the forum into **** imo.

I see what you're saying here but I bought my S used. I didn't buy the cheapest one I could find though, I looked around for the one in the BEST condition. I may have paid a couple grand more but it's worth it IMO. This guy is talking about cheapin' out from the getgo and this is NOT the car to do that with.
And yes I put the S up on a pedestal, it's a $35-40k car brand new, not a $20k (with every option) civic. Yes the price is dropping unfortunately on used ones. That doesn't mean the value to true enthusiasts is dropping, just the quality of owners if anything.
That's what makes me want to start cuttin' people, one week you see a thread on how they got this great deal and saved thousands on a used S2000. Next F*ucking week it's, I have this funny noise and vibration in the rear end or I tried to be Billy Badass and over-revved the engine and now it's making this funny clicking noise
I have no sympathy for stupid people or stupid questions, you get what you paid for.
Also I'm not rich by any standard. Work 40+ hrs. a week on 3rd shift, I enjoy what I pay good money for and if someone wants to be cheap and not respect it for what it is to hell with em.

I'm not an s2000 owner. But, my dad has one and i've done alot of work with him. If it's an early model with the plastic window, i wouldn't worry about the top because you will end up replacing it anyway at some time. So even though that's extra out the box, it gives you a place to bargain right off on something that will inevitably need to be fixed.
I don't know where my dad got his replacement top. It was about $800 or so, no oem, and far better quality than oem. Glass window as well. It took us about a weekend to replace, neither of us had a clue about what we are doing, looks perfect.
I just think the top is a non issue, the tires, that's not abnormal when buying a car. Tires wear, a nicer car might have accople thousand more miles, so, again no big deal. Paint would be the only issue.
Sorry, long post, but, i just see alot of opportunities to bargain on things that will inevitably need replacement anyway. You may be able to bargain it down quite a bit. If not, defineatly skip it.
