Default VTEC switch-over in s2k

Who said that compare to the ITR, s2k had such a smooth switch-over that you couldn't tell except for the sound?

The kick of the high lift cams are much more pronounced and powerful than the ITR in firs and second gears at wot.

My first observation at 650 miles. I have not redlined yet.

there have always been a few morons claiming the ITR's vtec is stronger. they have obviously never driven the s2k and are talking from thier anus.

I think the vtec in the ITR isn't quite as smooth as the S2000, it comes on more abruptly. I think its a little louder in the ITR as well.

The ITR's engagement is more pronounced and the intake noise is a bit louder after VTEC.
Do you have the decibel measurements for the above statement?

Before you quickly hit 'reply' and start hating, I'm just asking you to document your statement, because I am insterested in how you came to that conclusion.

Thanks,

I suppose we could dig up some dynos and see which car has the larger spike in horsepower with the changeover.....(percentage wise of course).
percentage wise. hummmm what was your percentage again? humm?

Oh I am sorry

No no no totally totally kidding

I am very sorry to start a topic which can be very subjective and disagreeable.
I have recently noticed a huge but uneducated and blind bias between the ITR and S2K owners. Of course each thinks that their car is better in number of ways. Numbers aside, it is very hard to describe such issues like engiene noise, VTEC swithover kick, street handling, fun factor, and seat of the pant feel.

True that ITR may be lauder, but is it because of the lack of sound insulation or a CAI. The VTEC issue has much to do with the type of the seat, how you adjust your seat, how much of your preception of power is due to the loud noise, car vibration, etc.

Get my point?

I brought this up because it was said that the S had a very smooth power curve and that you couldn't tell when it switches to the second lobes except for the engine note. This was not what I observed. S and ITR have a pretty similar feel for their vtec kick in first and second gears. I was excepting to get a feel similar to a GSR (no offense) when I drove the S and I got what was very similar to the ITR.

Which one is relatively stronger? I guess that has to do with how squishy your butt is

In response to my own first post, you have to realize that after driving below 6000 rpm for weeks and then letting it ride gave me such a rush that I made that comment. Not to mention that the S is inherently a faster car.

yes, the vtec engagement is more obvious on the ITR. More like a switch feeling. I'm not saying the ITR has more power, just a more noticeable vtec crossover. This is based my experience as an ITR owner, and my friend Ozy's experience as an s2000 owner.

Own an ITR and was going to buy an S2000 until i drove one. There is no doubt at all the S2000 is way quicker and has tons more torque but it left me cold. The VTEC in the ITR 'feels' more intense, so sod Dyno's etc because that is how it is,in the same way a Go-Kart ''feels' faster than a 996T. Steering wooden and lack of feedback from the front end maybe due to the soft top? Engine felt rough in the example o drove i must say. However i do like the S2000 but it is not for me, for the nearly the same money i can get hold of a Boxster, which is what i am doing. ITR is a more driver focused car and i doubt will be matched very soon, the S2000 missed the target as far as i am concerned.
