A problem Ive seen vortech owners complain about is the black box which deals with engine management go out. This isnt one being defective and all the others being great. This is alot of people having to order replacement black boxes from vortech. Or you could go with a piggy back and never deal with the black box. Personally Id go comptech because of the ease of installaiton since there is no oil pan tapping needed.

both kit are very similar, i was told stock for stock comptech with a cooler unit installed will yield a slightly better power gain but again, it's not a day or night different if both cars are charged.

there's a dude in s2ki that got a two messed up black box in a row

I have yet to see a stock comptech kit out dyno a stock vortech kit. If you look in force induction forum on s2ki all the vortech kits outperform the comptech kits. If the deciding factor between the two kits comes down to tapping the oil pan then perhaps force induction is not for you.

Vortech uses a larger blower and has more potential. Add to that its cheaper then the comptech kit.

My choice was hands down was vortech, look at all the cars making the most power with superchargers, they are all using the vortech.

Mine dynoed 348.5 hp and 215 TQ with just an exhaust and testpipe at Church Automotive. I saw a bunch of graphs of all the comptechs that had dynoed there as well, and the highest I saw was 320 whp on stock boost

When you add the Aftercooler to the comptech you almost have no gains because you lose some boost. Thats why most people upgrade their pulley at the same time so they can still be running close to stock boost.

Go over to s2ki and ask sex2k! (comptech with boltons) what happened when he raced me from a roll on the freeway...

just look at this thread...

The OP and me dynoed on the same dyno and even with an upgraded pulley, exhaust, filter, and header and all he still dynoed almost 30 HP less

Hey scott, didnt you dyno on a dynopack?

on the comptech you lose about 0.5 psi of boost with the aftercooler. I have been seeing alot of very low numbers from the A/C'd comptechs lately tho. even with bolt ons they still are low I belive who does the install makes a big difference. Scott and I will both agree spugen did a great job on our cars.

As for the race we did your car is for sure faster. but remmeber you have have 8psi aftercooled test pipe and single exhaust. when I had only the non A/C'd with exhaust at 5psi. thus wasnt really a even match not trying to steal your thunder your car is wayy nice and I agree votech makes more power.

is the vortech smog legal? I know the comptech is, has the carb numbers right on it. comptech i know has wonderfull customer service as for vortech Ive heard some horror storys about theres.

thats my post big and long but I hope I helped with you decision both are wonderfull kits youll have a blast either way

comptech looks nicer tho

Hey whats up, yea the vortech is Carb legal as well. Ive yet to have a problem with vortech's customer service. When I purchased my kit from a member on s2ki it was missing parts and I called up vortech and got them sent to my house the next day. Yea my car registered 7.5 psi on the church auto dyno. I wish I would have gone to whatever the place is that you went to so we could have compared numbers.

Yes, get a Comptech so all the guys with a Vortechs can out run you.

S trim Vortechs will pump 150 cubic feet of air per minute more than a Comptech. If you start out with an easy to install Comptech you will be forever in the lesser catagory....less power, less triumphs, less potential, less satisfaction, less smiles.

That being said the Comptechs are certainly better than stock and either way you will be a winner.

all depends on how much power you really want. Personally I enjoy the power of a stock comptech, it gives me all the smile I need.

if raw power from the S is what you want go turbo

thats just my opinion, everyone has there own

wheres the OP? or are we debating with our selves for nothing. hahaha

now your just assuming I paid more for my comptech then I would if I went vortech. what i was saying about turbo was it would be easier to get higher HP. out of the new chargers if all you want is the most power out of the box i agree ,vortech ftw. if you dont want to tap into the oil pan and such and your fine with the power the comptech gives and hell maybe you just like the way it looks, then Id say comptech FTW

Im not trying to argue just show another opinion, as unbias as possible.

I got a vortech supercharger recently, i had to send my black box THREE times and STILL waiting for the 4th one to come. Its been a month and 2 weeks of down time. My Supercharger never saw 1 mile until i got a AEM EMS earlier this week. made 340.2 hp and 207 torque with just exhaust at Church's.

Go with Vortech if you can afford EMS, if not then Comptech

My .02 cents I went comptech with AC, as crazy as it sounds it was cheaper than the vortech setup thanks to the deal I got in on. I could be mistaken but it seems as if both units jumped up in price in the last few months.

Yeah I've noticed people paying more too, I saw a post by someone saying the spent damn near 8k, for that price I'd rather go lovefab turbo, lol.

thats sucks with the black box, i know vortech has problems with it.....i would think they would invest some time and fix that damn problem.

i know 9kfever hasnt had any problems with his Black box. i guess its hit or miss.

nice numbers!!! did you make that will the base vortech kit? just tuned on EMS? im interested in your exhaust set-up

Yupp, I just tuned the AEM EMS with my T1R exhaust (using stock catalytic converter) and thats it. everything else is stock beside the vortech kit.
