vibrate on startup normal?
Hey guys,
I'm ready to pull the trigger on an 07 honda s2000.
Everything is stock I believe, there is a little beep light that dings around 7k to warn me to shift. Not sure if that's stock.
Anyways, I inspected the car thoroughly an the only thing that was odd to me was when I start it it vibrates rather harsh.
Similar to poly bushings on a civic but only on startup. Idle and driving is fine
The car has 37k miles.
I did some googling, and only found this issue for shutting off the car
What do you guys think? Is this normal? Or is a mount bad?
let me know thanks

Vibration during start up...its gonna be very hard to help you with that, could you provide a vid? How long does that vibration last? Is it only when the car is cold started? Ask the previous owner/dealer about that shift light and vibration, or test drive another S and compare findings
Yea it is very hard to describe.
It's like a torque jolt right after the starter and the engine catches
It only lasts that brief 1-2 seconds when the engine fires
doesn't do it on cold idle
It would be hard to capture on video

is the car at a dealer? if its not used often the ecu might not be used to the current climate conditions so it dosent give the correct a/f and the motor feels like it stutters for a split second.
my best guess.
my best guess.
he has 4 cars at his house, this is the one he doesn't drive.
The battery was dead when we got there
it's not a stutter I think, just a real strong rumble
I will go see it again tomorrow and try to get a better understanding
I was watching this video, because I would change the fluids as soon as I bought it.
The guys facial expression is exactly like mine when he starts it at 3:50
the start is very similar also

ok, 1. i didnt see any facial expression and 2. that guys an idiot for breaking plugs loose with a torque wrench...and i could have swore the last time i changed my diff fluid i used a 22mm wrench for the fill plug...sounded normal to me on start up as well
^^ I think that's what's going on
at 3:50 the guy sorta looks up surprised
I will make sure I inspect t well before I buy
my 00 has a slight shudder in the shifter right when it starts up. not sure if its the same, only last like .5-1 second then its gone. i think its just the engine moving a bit
Before you buy it, Get a Compression Test done on it. All the cylinders should be within 10-15lbs of each other and have 160min. hopefully 200.
The 2000-2002 Yrs are prone to crack valve retainers, but regardless of the year, do a compression test first.

lol, so you bought it, and i take it you didn't do a comp test..
and it has a werid sound..
lol..
welcome to honda, for future stupid decisions, i suggest trusting your family's/cars safety to coilovers from taiwan, make sure you floor it a lot with bald tires..
can never hit enough telephone poles..
ohh and make sure you install the wrong size rims, performance is so 2010
*edit i like your crx, i hope your new investment doesn't crap out on you bro

I have a pretty rough start up. vibiration goes away when the engine fully starts. slightly rough idle, shifter shakes a bit.. I'll take a vid later.
BTW I have an 05.
