Default Testing AP1 vs AP2

This week the owner of the honda dealership whom i know is going to take me for a drive in his 2 s2000's to see which i like better. He owns a 2000 which was the 3rd one to come into canada and he has under 20 000 km on it, aswell as a brand new 07. So after the test ill post my findings if anyone is interested.

so, is he driving and you are riding?

are you planning on buying one or the other?

if you are buying, you should be driving......

Well I am trying to decide which i would prefer, and the best way to see is to drive in them. they are his personal cars so were going to take them out and find the differences between the two. I am not buying those specific ones but just getting a feel for each style.

i know there are a bunch of threds on this..but can i ask you why you think that about the ap2..i know its tiny differneces but reading lots and lots about both generations and ive read on this site that an o4 and o5 will make bout 210whp plus make better power 500rpms sooner. now im not to sure on whp in an ap1 but i do believe the 04 and 05 models are a better performance package out of the box. Im planing on buying an s2000 so im interested on any info. Thanks.

I Have seen tests, with professional driver, Where an ap2 beat an ap1 on the track by an significant amount ( both were stock). I like the more torque the ap2 has.

Correction. Half a second for the wheels alone, and half a second for the chassis tuning. Both had the F20, since the AP2 was a JDM '04 model.

was it half a sec???
either way that half sec can be made up on tire pressures/ driver / pulling a gear slightly longer

Can't pull a gear longer if it's the same drivetrain. If the JDM AP2 even had the new transmission, the gears would have been shorter, still contradicting what you're saying.

I'm starting to hate on your Evo, it's screwing up your thinking.

i am refering to the individual car.. driving habits..... where at turn 1 he shifted at XXX RPM but if he would have pulled it to XXX it would have yeilded a fasted exiting speed which in turn woul dhave gave him that possible half a sec.

That's not a test, that's called a race. And the driver was the problem.
