Tein Flex install question
just wondering if I can get some basic info on the pre-install of my flexs. I've had the coils for three months now and the weather is just starting to get warmer to where I can actually get my lazy *** outside and do this. I read the instructions but it did not tell me much. I want to do this myself b/c here in South Cacalak, there is no one worthy that I know of that can install these.
The coils come pre-assembled and everything.....so do I just remove the factory struts and springs and bolt the flexs directly or do I have to make some adjustments i.e. the spring load, etc. I need ALL the little and vital information possible so that I don't screw up or have to reinstall later.
The EDFC doesn't look to hard at all.... hopefully i can figure it all out. Thanks for the help !

well...
1. it's a direct bolt on.. if you know hot to take your stock ones off you're fine... so take the stock off and insert teins...
2. make sure you put them on the right side.. there should be little stickers on each assembly which tells you which side and where it goes.. fr, fl, rr, rl.......
3. the edfc is also simple... make sure you follow instructions perfectly... on the threading and dropping in the new screw thingie and greesing it up yada yada.... and how many clicks to move the thing before doing the setup.....
4. to do the rear drivers side...... it's wise to undo the gas tubes and move them out of the way so you have more area to work.. and it'll help when installing the edfc motors.... (make sure you put something over the hole so nothing falls in.. and do this outside cause it's very toxic hahahah)
5. as for wiring... the two rear ones can be fed though easily ... there's little pannels behind the seats that you can take off and you can see right though to the trunk.....
6. for the front wires.. this is a little more tricky.... i found a hole in the firewall on the drivers side... it's like right above the clutch petal... i fed both wires for my front motors though this hole.. it's a tight fit but it fits... and make sure you put the cap back on to keep water out ...
.....
once the wires are inside the cabin you can wire it and put it wherever you want....
any more questions just pm me....
i did the complete install in about ehhh 4 hours....

Try this out for tips on removing your stock suspension...

If you're not up to doing it yourself, P1 auto is just outside Charlotte, NC and are more than qualified to do the install for you. I highly reccomend P1. Try this for contact info...

Either way, good luck and take some pics when you're done.

also, you have to remove the front A arms to get the old struts off. be carefull when you take off the brake lines, watch the ABS sensor...
Thanks for the help ! I did call Jack at p1 auto and he wanted to charge me $600 to do this. I wasn't up for that. I can do it myself, its just that I barely get time with college/work. I was willing to pay like $300 for someone to do it, but no one that had experience took my offer. If it is just simple bolt-off and bolt on for the coils, should have no problem. Francesco, I installed springs on my MY00 about 6 months ago b4 selling it. I never took off the A arms. Or was I just lucky?
$600 to install? yikes! you can do this in two hours(shocks install) with the help of a buddy and an air ratchet.
a BIG tip is to search online on maybe s2ki.com for the proper heights for your coilovers. i had flex'es on my old wrx and the instruction numbers were goofy. this will keep you from having to install and reinstall your car to find the right ride height. and yes, watch out for the abs lines...they are major bling. i think 200-300 a pop. i havent done the edfcs but hope to install some when i upgrade to RAs on my s2k. good luck!

hahaha. where did you put the edfc?? i gotta see your install.. i ended up installing mine in about an hour and a half... and i see no wires...
mines in the center console. i had to run wires all over because i taped it directly into that fise pannel under the dash. i had to wrap all the wires up and tie them down so they wouldn't hit my legs when i drive...

only certain cars have the ability to use the edfc with ra's, and the other tein coilovers....but for the s2000, you can only use it on the flex....

s2000 is a bitch for the edfc. their is no room to spare at all in the trunk for the rear motors.

passenger side is fine... but the drivers side is a biotch.... i undid the gas tubes and moved them out of the way to get in there... and i think there's barely enough clearance...

Any tips on tightening down the top nut. With the stock shock you can use an allen wrench to keep the rod from spinning, do you need some other special tool for the tien flex's? The instructions say to be sure it is tight, it feels tight but want to be sure.
