Sub Install
Last night I cleaned up all my wiring and mounted the amp in the spare tire area. I zip tied all the wiring and hid all the wiring and mounted the amp.
I couldn't find the sub grill, so I'll have to pick one up somewhere, overall the install went well. This sub was first in my 94 EX, and then moved it into my Si. When it was down for the winter, I put it into my Hatch, then when winter was over, back into the Si and finally in the s2k. So needless to say it's been around. I bought it new, but it has it's fair share of scuffs from bouncing around in the trunk. The install went so smooth, I even mounted my fire extinguisher.
Let me know what you all think, I am super happy w/the install and look.
This is the BEFORE look. Not much going on other than a box that doesn't really fit in the trunk.

As you can see, the trunk lid barely even closed and left me with ZERO room for anything else.

The amp was initially sitting below the sub box in a tangled mess.

Here is the new box.

You can see how it is shaped to fit snug in the tool and jack well.

Here is the final product.

Another angle with the trunk partially closed.

This box has more solid bass, but is not as loud. I usually listen to it on 4/10 on my headunit, and turned it up to 6/10 to compensate.
Recap, it's an Alpine Type R 12" dual voice coil subwoofer powered by a 750watt mono amp, all wired with monster.

as functional as the size and mounting position could be
looks much better obviously, it would be bitching if you find a grey carpet instead of blackish one

Looks allot better! Did you mount the amp in the spare tire well? Still have the spare in there? With such a small amp I would think you would find a place for both.
spare tire? who needs one of those?
I've seen those boxes sell for about $100. When I was considering upgrading my sound system I was going to do that 'cause it looked the best. But then I thought, if I put anything in my trunk it will bounce all over my speaker.
So i chose to make horsepower instead of louder sounds.
looks nice though!

Nobody said you can't do both.

Agreed. The grey carpet it came in wasn't all that great, so I choose black, helps it stand out more.
If I can find some that is close to the actual carpet, I'll prolly change it.

The spare was the first thing I ditched when I brought the car home..lol.
The amp is in there currently. I just zip tied all the wires and used Velcro to secure it to the body.

same here, there isn't a good place for amp and sub for our car, well at least for a proper sized amp. i used to have a half size dual channel amp for pushing my front speakers sitting behind the passenger back but it's retarded small and weak

Prolly the same place.
I'd HIGHLY recommend these guys. I told them I had an alpine type r 12, which requires a 7 3/4 box depth, while this box is only 7 1/8 I think..and they made it a little deeper. Same price and still got it in one week.
