So 2 days ago, I had used my s2k's battery in my prelude because my prelude's alternator failed and I needed a battery to get the car home. Anyways when I got around to putting the s2k battery back in, I forgot the velvet battery terminal covers were backwards.. so I connected the positive to negative and negative to positive.. the horn went off, lights turned on, and everything.. then stopped when i pulled it off immediately..
anyways after replacing the battery fuse, my headlights won't work (but tails/cluster do) and my radio does not work either.. (no power to radio) I have checked the headlight fuses and radio fuse, all are well.. I'm wondering if it could be a relay? please halp, I have no cars to drive at night right now... prelude has a flat tire, s2k no lights...

you probably shorted something out, and are going to have to play the electrical game
p.s. this is another reason a 17 year old shouldn't drive an S

the easiest thing to do right now is to swap the headlight relay and see if it helps. do you know anybody else with a s2k thats close to you and can stop by so you can switch them?
does the s2k have a different control module besides the ecu that control body electronics? i'm not sure if it does but either way if you can find somebody with an s2k you can swap control modules to see if it helps...
alsocheck to see if the prelude's relay is the same as the s2k's, you can call your honda dealer and see if its the same part number. if it is then try that one.

i remember i did this once to my volkswagon and it fried the wires. luckily... the electrical guy did not screw me to have new wires put in and only charged 150. i'm sure i would have paid upto 1500 to have all new wiring put in if it was some dishonest shop.
such a simple mistake can cause so many problems.

lol i really doubt i fried my wires, im not an electrical noob.. just lazy, ill bust out my multimeter and probably buy a probe if the relays dont fix the problem.. also gonna test the ballast's saturday.. PFFT graf, cheap shot. at least i know how to determine the problem

haha yeah it happens to a lot of people, usually they try to put batteries at night or in the cold weather and don't oay attention.
we get 4-5 cars a year for the same mistakes. one guy fried his whole body harness to the sum of $9,500 in parts and labor

lol wow, i had it on for a second when the horn went off i pretty much figured i did that and removed the terminal. haha but since everything else is working, im pretty sure it won't sum up to a 9500$ repair. still won't have time until probably 2m or sunday.
haha it was because I was in a hurry and it was semi-cold. open garage door + boxers + windchill.

when you get you DMM out to check everything first just check ALL the fuses. You may have a blown fuse or a problem you don't know about yet. You probably didn't burn any wires or fry any harnesses with just leaving it like that for a second. I'd say you missing a fuse to your headlights and your radio. As for the relay, putting your battery in backwards is not going to mess a relay up. I'd call honda and see if they will give you a headlight wiring diagram and go from there. good luck on the fix, just pay attention next time.

thanks for info, my friend actually told me that a bad relay would smell bad. kragen didn't have em in stock, but id still like to rule it out. i havent tested the ballast yet, but i will when im not strapped for time w/ other priorities.
a relay is very simple to test. pull it out of the relay housing and touch a 9volt batter to the 85 and 86 terminals. if you hear it click then the coil is good and you can use the continuity setting on your meter to check the other 3 terminals. a good relay should have continuity unenergized between 30 and 87a and after it is energized it should have continuity between 30 and 87.
