Default S2K DIFFERENTIAL??

Im a little worried about this i keep hearing s2ks have problems with the differential, what exactly happens to them? and why?? how can it be prevented i just got an 04 with 9k miles (its my daily driver) should i be concerned? thanks for the help

you have a warranty..... no need to worry unless you plan to do lots of burnouts....

alot of people blow the ring and pinion, and in most cases the actual diff housing is shot...

sounds good thanks another question. How is the gear shifting suposed to be on s2ks? i've only driven mine and don't know. is it suposed to be some what rough? rugher than a civic/integra? thanks again

what could be causing not being so smooth? specially when cold after it heats up it gets smoother but before it doesn't grind but its kinda hard and it really only happens on low rpms shifting high rpm gets better

depends what kind of fluid is in it.... mine is knotchy and hard when it's cold.. 40-45 degrees or below... till the fluid warms up... i'm using gm syncromesh..... but once it's warmed up it's smooth as butter..

i can't really tell you, cause i'm not there to see how it's shifting.. but it should be smoother then a civic....

you might want to drain a little fluid and see if you get any metal shavings coming out..

I used RP Synchomax for the tranny and Gearmax 75W90 in the rear end. Smooth as butter.

i used the Amosol in my diff and the GM syncromesh friction modified in my tranny on the old spa...

ill be using the same fluids soon in the ap2...

currently they make kits to use an s13 nissan diff...

some people have tempted with the idea of using a ford rear diff...

personally i would use the nissan. its pricy though

why would you want to keep it warm?

if anything someone should make a diff fluid cooler
