Default s2000 shopping

I currently have an integra, and love it. However on new years eve coming home from work I slid on some of the fresh snow and bounced it off of a guard rale a couple times. I was planning on taking out a loan and having it completely fixed(all cosmetic damage) as I appreciate it for a nice car, not its "tuning capabilities." However, even though I will end up with a cosmeticly new car(the rest of the car is sound as well) it will be expensive, and if I'm going to be taking out a loan, even though my car is fairly nice and respectable as an "Acura," I want to look at my options. One of which was a newer car. I've always liked the s2000, and have been browsing through them because I want a nice "grown up" car, that will still be a nice car even if I have it for awhile. So to make a long story short, and i apologize if I posted in the wrong section, but in my searching is there any advice besides basic car things that I should look for when shopping for an s2000? I appreciate any input, thanks.

A completely stock daily driver, a car that factory is visually appealing, and not that I drive ever very vigorously, but a car that can perform. Also a car that shows maturity. I was considering RSX's, however I don't find them as attractive and I see them soon becoming what they are, the next generation of integra, and gaining the image of riced out teens cars.

^^ if you can afford one, and don't mind the reduction in storage space, then get it.
You won't regret it.

worse thing for me was the lack of storage. def check the car out in person before you buy, you cant even fit a large size luggage bag in the trunk. but on the high note, its pure fun driving the s and the feel/feedback you get driving is like none other imo. definitely a driver's car, not a car designed for accommodating every day activities. if you have a kid then i wouldnt even think about it unless you have a daily driver

The car is not practical at all. My girlfriend complains about mine every day. It is not an easy car to climb in and out of. And I see you also live in Oregon so you should have a alternate car to drive in the rain.

Something else I did not mention, mainly because of negative association is that I'm fairly young. However I have been looking over the financial burden of full coverage insurance as well as payments, and maintenance. As far as practicality I hardly ever drive with a passenger and if I do, its only one, and I never use my car to move anything of any size. As for insurance on my integra, it being paid for and not a real expensive car, it only has basic liability, and there for was not covered for collision. The reply about rain in oregon, would not driving it be for hazards or because of damage from the wet conditions? I'm going to test drive a local s2000 tomorrow just to get an idea if obtaining one is still something I wish to pursue.

Girlfriend is fine, she loves the car. She just says it is not a good car for every day use. I have no problem what so ever getting in and out but for some reason everyone that has ever sat in my car has complained. It is probably because I am **** and I don't let people slide on the side and lower booster so they don't get wracked. I'm very picky how people get in my car.

Drive one and see. I've had a GS-R, and the S2000 is more of a car in every way (except capacity, of course). One of the most fun-to-drive cars I've driven.

The car isnt the best for everyday use unless you count the fun factor. I was driving my S2000 for three years as my only car. I bought a Jeep a year ago and now I realized how nice it it to have a something to hull stuff in from people to large objects.

I dd'd mine for 3 years, and am 6'2" 220. No issues at all. You'll end up in trouble much easier with RWD vs the teg though- that's my warning.

Make sure you price insurance as well before you commit to one. It is going to suck if you have to pay an arm and leg.

Yes, I will definitely check my insurance before I commit to one. And the RWD set up does make me slightly leery, but I also find it interesting. And as much as I baby cars I have owned previously I'm sure I will take even greater precaution on a much nicer and more expensive vehicle. I went to test drive that local s2000 today even though Im not really interested in it because it is silver with a black hood and aftermarket wheels, and I want all stock. It was a '00 with 94k miles. It was moved to a shop to replace the seals in the convertible top. Once we got there and opened it, it could be seen it was full of mold, and he said he didn't want to test drive it in that condition. They mentioned it had a door ding fixed, however I noticed in many places around the car there was paint over spray and runs. As well as a small missing piece here or there. I plan on going back to test drive it next week just to get a feel for the s2000 in general. Overall that particular one had issues, but being able to look one over and sit in it I can see that they are something I would like to pursue further. They are very beautiful cars. Sorry to ramble on.

The car will be fine in rain... it's just snow/ice that I would worry about. We don't get much snow here (we get ice, but I don't drive in it period), but we get PLENTY of rain, and I never had any problems. Just have to not drive like a moron.

Where I live we only have snow for one day a year two at most, so alternate forms of transportation during snow wouldn't be difficult. I was planning on only looking at '04+ because of the revisions that year, and I since I'm spending the money I would, even if I have to spend a little extra, prefer to get the best model I can within reason.

Buy one. 100%. I love mine. This is my 2nd S2000 and it's the greatest car I've owned. People of all ages love it. And I definitely feel mature in it. (I'm 27). Let me know what you end up getting and good luck!

Most people in Oregon know how to drive in rain.
If you were going to buy an s2000 and never drive it in the rain (living in oregon) there wouldn't be a point buying one. Unless ofcourse you have 2 cars and your S is a garage queen.

I deffinatly plan on getting an S2000, compared to what else I was considering they are much more of car, or atleast a drivers car. I called my insurance today, and I pay semi annually, but it divides up to one hundred ninety dollars per month, which to me seems fairly reasonable for full coverage for some one my age. Next weekend I'm making a trip up to Portland and Seattle to look at couple. One inparticular is an '06 in Portland.
