AP1 vs AP2 dyno results
My friend and i dyno tested our s2000 last night. i justed wanted to share our results. I have a bone stock 06 AP2 with 30,000 miles and he has a bone stock 03 AP1 with 35,000 miles, no mods what so ever. We had a total of three pulls each with no fans or blowers pointing at it and temp was about 40 degrees outside.
AP1 pulls:
1st- 200whp,134lbs
2nd- 200whp,134lbs
3rd-203whp,135lbs- this pull is with air box cover off and we also noticed his cat was going bad, he also is in need of a tuneup.
AP2 pulls:
1st- 208whp,143lbs
2nd-208whp,143lbs
3rd-211whp,145lbs- with air box cover off. AP2 had tune up 3 months ago not my daily driver.
We were both very happy with our results and would like to thank ***** auto and Stickerguy for all there help.

pretty good comparison, any dyno scans to upload? i always thought that there was a ~ 10 horsepower/10 foot pounds difference between the two.

I read that with the intake box off, you make less power. But I guess this proves it wrong. Saw on S2ki that with the box off, creates a lot of heatsoak, and isn't good.

would be nice to see the two power curve together to see power difference between the two under the peak numbers. i think that's more important than peak numbers.

there is a huge difference with the airbox cover off when you've got the hood propped up and you're sitting in a shop with a fan blowing on the engine vs with the hood closed.

yes, took the words right out of my mouth. for this very reason i have a spoon snorkal and a stock air box with a K&n filter.

Re: AP1 vs AP2 dyno results
probably has something to do with the hood being open on the dyno or not. im guessing the hoods were open durig these pulls, and with 40 degree outside temps its probably cooler outside the airbox.

Re: AP1 vs AP2 dyno results
i dont think it will, the air has to go through a narrow snorkel rather than open air a little far back.i might be wrong though,no way to really know this.

Re: AP1 vs AP2 dyno results
Was @ a dyno day last year and an ap1 did a back to back pull with his air cover on/off and he lost power from removing it.
Only a few ponies, but it recorded on the dyno. However this could potentially be labeled heat soak as well..hard to tell?

Re: AP1 vs AP2 dyno results
i would like to see the results with the hood shut. i have been told that the lid on makes more power and that without the lid it makes more power

Re: AP1 vs AP2 dyno results
one reason why i never understood when people go ITBs they dont vent their hood somehow... i would find a way to vent the hood in a way that directs cool external air right to the ITBs... instead of letting them suck up nappy *** underhood air.

Re: AP1 vs AP2 dyno results
least restriction = most power... the lid off is going to make more power until the restriction loss is canceled out by the warmer (less dense) air being ingested by the engine.
