Problem with bolts !!!
Ok so i bought a s2000 recently and today i go to change the spark plugs and i realize the bolts that need a hex key that covers the spark plugs are super tight ! i cant take off bcus the bolts are starting the strip, what should i do ? thanks in advance
The screws that hold on the plug cover are a different material then your valve cover. This causes galvanic corrosion and is un-avoidable. When undoing these bolts you need to "snap" them loose, going slow will cause the heads to strip out. Do like one of the earlier posters stated, get a socket version of the hex and use a 3/8 ratchet. Just make sure to not go slow as you are undoing the bolts or they will still strip out. When you get to the 10mm bolts holding on the coils you will find the same thing has happened to them, again just "snap" them to get them started. When putting it back together don't over tighten things.
Stretch the bolts. Take a beefy screwdriver and put it on the head of the bolt. Then take a hammer and give a good hard whack to the handle of the screwdriver.
---or---
Take the allen key and rather than trying to loosen the bolt, try tighten the bolt just a little to break the seized threads.
After doing one of the above, try and torque the bolts loose.
