Here's a trick. Go to the particular forum section you think the thread will be in or relates to. Then scroll to the bottom of that page, and you'll see a search box that says "search this forum". In the box type in what you want. And it'll give you a more refined listing. This way it only searches that particular sub-forum instead of searching the whole forum.
It doesn't work every time, but at times, you'll hit the jackpot.
