Does that mean Lamborghinis aren't hand-built either? Just hand-assembled? Same for the NSX?
Do you build a model plane or just assemble it?
Do you build a house or just assemble one?
Do you build a motor or just assemble it?
Lets say a man buys a kit airplane and spends two years putting it together in his backyard. He tells people he built it by hand. Are you going to argue with him???

Slamming the S2000 is a bad idea especially if it is a MY00-MY03. Yea, you may think it looks cool but it does **** the handling. The lower you go, the more fucked up it gets.
I am not just spouting ****, I have experienced this first hand many times.
The rear suspension has a problem called bumpsteer. As the rear suspension compresses, the rear wheel toes in at a much higher rate. For all of you Einsteins out there, just picture a parabola on a graph. The toe curve follows the shape of the parabole. What this means is that as the suspension is compressed the rear wheel turns drastically into the direction that the car is turning and the rear end breaks loose. Some call this snap oversteer. It isn't too much of a problem at the stock ride height but with a lowered car, the problem becomes exponentially worse. Yes, I know this is not a very clear explanation but I am not an engineer.
My car is lowered about 1 1/4in in the rear and about the same in the front. The car has 400f/350r Ground Controls on Koni Yellows. I also run 225 front and 255 rear Azenis RT-615's. With this combination, my car should push, not oversteer. We ran it last weekend at an autocross at Grissom. If you are familliar with Grissom, you will know that it is a very grippy concrete surface. The car handles great on the street and in transitions and the front of the car stuck on the concrete like it was glued to the ground but the rear end in mid corner would get so loose that it felt like the rear tires were on ice. My very experienced co-driver spun the car 5 times that day and on 2 occasions he spun twice on one run. I spun also. The car is getting raised back up tomorrow.
WTF does this have to do with you driving on the street you ask? Good question. Imagine driving down the freeway in your pimpin-***, slammed S2000 and some ******** does something stupid in front of you and you have to swerve to miss him. Guess what? You're fucked because you just spun into a gard rail or on coming traffic.
You can go a head and slam your S. If you wad it up into a ball, don't say you were not warned.

rofl.....
hand build means the car was put together and body pannels created by hand... all pieces done by a person not a machine, engines are put together by hand, paint is done by a person spraying the car, interior is done by someone stiching the fabric... .. (no assembly line)
the s2000 is hand assembled like a puzzle.... pieces are given to you and the workers put then into place.. screw them down, tighten them, whatever they need to do..... paint is done by a machine..... (has an assembly line)
then there is a factory assembled car.. where the car is assembled by machines/robots... all cutting is done with lazer by a computer, all measurements done by a computer, yada yada yada...
in other words... if you get a kit car and put it together.. you've assembled the car by hand........ if you're like orange county choppers and you created a bike.. that would be hand build and hand assembled... cause they build the tanks and so on by hand...

I agree.
I believe TVR's are hand-built (body panel shaped by hand). Having said that, because they are hand-built, the build characteristics and specification of the vehicles can vary across the production runs, and indeed between two consecutive cars.
S2000's are hand assembled.

correct.. tvr is one of the few companies that actually hand build the cars.. some bentleys are also in the group...... the perks of a car being hand-built is the ability to customize it...
but then the price is also high....
