Default Performance Mods

From all of the research I have done I have come to the conclusion that the S2000 engine is fairly well maxed out as far as horsepower. It appears to me that to gain any appreciable horsepower out of it you need to do some fairly major (expensive) mods to get any real noticable gains such as a supercharger or major internal work to the engine.
What have others found after doing mods. Was it worth it ?

Strictly IMO, I would go with 4.56 gear ratio if it's a daily driver. Light fly is good, CAI is good, and since you live in FL - header back single exhaust and get a piggy back computer to tune your toy wouldn't hurt.

You'll prolly cap out at +20-30hp with a good header and said setup. Weight savings should be decent.

If I were to do it again, the same amount of money would have gone to turbo and reinforced drivetrain. Going with a stroker kit is not worth it when dollar per HP is considered.

What is a CAI?

I have considered going turbo... but do I really need all that power? what do the circut S2000's run? I really love the sound and look of ITB's... But what gains can
I expect from them on a good setup?

I have seen CAI before and just ignored it. I though the term "intake" worked well enough to describe a cold air intake, so yes, it's a retarded abreviation.

How in the world would "intake" suffice for a "cold air intake"?

That is a bit broad if I do say myself.

IMO majority of the mods that you buy for the s2000 will affect the weight and acceleration.

if you go with a single exhaust you will gain some power, but mainly you will feel the -50 or so pounds of saved weight.

best bang for the buck is building the rear up with gears and a test pipe

It could also describe
-short ram intake
-intake manifold
-cold air intake
-intake air pressure sensor
-intake air filter

etc.

so funny...

Google CAI with anything car related and it will spell out cold air intake.

google CAI CAR and cold air intake is the only thing that comes up.

must be a known abbr. to be recognized that way. I think car companies like AEM and Injen uses CAI, so it must also be an industry term too.

we try to learn something new everyday, don't we?

just for kicks: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=wikipedia+CAI
