I know its off topic, but I got a big backpay check comming. I work for a union communications contractor, and they screwed me out of 14.00/hr for 9 months. Now I get that money plus interest. There 45k light in the pockets NJ dept of Labor

Please explain how $14/hr for 9 months comes out to $45,000.

 

Salary itself works out to about 20,000. BUT NJ has strict laws and companies are forced if the amount exceds 25% of the persons salary tp pay 2.00 for every 1:00 owed. There is overtime which i worked that is included

If I had that kind of money coming to me, I'd put it towards a down payment on a house. That's because I'm perfectly happy with the car I have now.

yeah, house downpayment is where that money would be if it was mine. A car isnt crap without a home to watch over it at night.

Its your money, you can spend it however you want. but if you got a family, kids etc..then i think a house should do it. But if no wife, kids etc..then what the hell do you need a house for

 

i already have money saved away for a down payment on a house. Im getting married in April.

 

real estate is where to put you $$ now....get some land

 

real estate now in NJ is pretty high
But there are those areas that aren't worth for **** because the freakin taxes are so insanely high
I would reccomend the brunsiwck areas
for 500k you can get a nice one family home
Yeah its a lot but the area is nice

 

if i had 45k cash. i would be tempted to take a year off work.
